Microblogging – A Thirst Quencher

Spread the love

You know I like blogging. I used to blog – a lot. It’s as if I have this myriad of words in my mind just bursting to explode and be heard – albeit on paper digital paper.

But despite all the ideas pouring out, seldom does any of them actually see print online publication. Most of the time, the ideas remain in my head, in the memo pad of my cellphone smartphone, or in my old trusty paper journal/planner.

But thank God for the microblogging site. Ever since I discovered Twitter, blogging – even in 140 characters and less – has been a blast! Although I really wouldn’t consider it blogging per se, still, when ideas struck me, when opinions crave release, I find some semblance for it in the microblogging site.

I’ve shied away from Facebook – I find it a gallery of personal mementos from people who share whatever wherever they can. Ironically, I find the platform too crowded to really have my voice heard.

Hence, my gravitation towards Twitter. Funny that I find Twitter a better arena for my voice to, well, have voice. Funny that I should consider it the place where I can be heard – and interacted with. When in fact, Twitter is a public place – filled with everyone saying everything and hoping, against all odds, someone would listen.

But for me, the key is, to know what you want to say and how to effectively get it out there i.e. how to communicate it properly and get someone to actually care enough to answer (in social media lingo, engage with you).

Pretty much the same skills I would need in the land I am eyeing to move on to.

And so, despite my lack of blogging extravaganza since the last day I said I would strive be actively blogging again, I had found my respite, albeit temporary, in the microblogging king – Twitter.
