The Blog

History

Cerebral Insights was born on April 2005 when the author, on a spur of boredom and extra internet time decided to create a blog space in Blogspot and ride on the current blogging trend. Blogging was relatively new (as for the author’s estimate) at that time and at first she was averse to the fad. Her initial opinions about blogging was that it was an invasion of privacy wherein people, who have nothing else better to do, likes to impose their private life details to other people. Little did she know that a year after she made that comment, she would be joining the extensive blogging community, and that 5 years from that time, she would be a very active blogger.

Fast forward to the present, Cerebral Insights had grown immensely from whence the author first conceived of it. The blog has been a witness to several ups and downs of her life as well as her opinions on current matters of the state. The blog has also seen its own share of “providers” moving from Blogger to Multiply, back to Blogger then eventually to Wordpress.

Where it will go to the future, only time (and the blog’s needs) will tell. In the future, the blog hopes to also have its own domain and of course, a higher traffic and a large number of comments, which to the author’s opinion is a validation that people actually read her posts (and not just glances at them).

Content

Cerebral Insights is the author’s attempt to let people look into how her complex mind works. It is true that every mind is complex, although some appears not to be so. But then the author revels in how her mind thinks and works and would very much like other people to have a glimpse at its machination. Although it is true that one can never take a PEEK at something that is HUM-(m)ing, as the tagline suggests, the author as of the moment can think of no other catchy tagline. She would like to think of the word hum to express how gears work their magic and she would like to liken her mind to the inside of a clock or some other machine that runs with gears – every small part contributory to the larger picture and affecting each part, large or small, beside it. Thus she would like her readers to take a PEEK at the HUM of her mind.

There would be different categories to the thoughts her mind churns out. Each of them are explained in the Categories Page. Sometimes her opinions or thoughts are echoes of other great minds around her, sometimes they are unique ideas of her own. There may be a lot of people who would disagree to her thoughts, but more often than not, one would find her opinions agreeable and her experiences relatable. After all, in this world where everyone is unique, there is still some semblance of similarity amongst everyone.

All contents in the blog, unless otherwise stated, are the author’s own creations and thus she appeals that readers would adhere to intellectual property rights and value them. Also the opinions stated are the author’s alone and does not represent any official entity whatsoever. The people described in her blog refer to people she knows and she claims that she would protect their anonymity despite the fact that she has blatantly blogged about them. If the reader feels that his or her privacy has been compromised by some of the author’s articles, then feel free to contact the author about the matter and she’ll see what she can do. (Note: She’ll SEE what she can do.)

Design

Although the author would very much like to customize her blog, lack of monetary resources prevents her from doing so. Customizing a template or a CSS in Wordpress requires a yearly fee – something she can’t afford as of the moment. In the light of the situation, donations are very much welcome and also design concepts.  :-)

The Author

Name

The author has decided not to reveal her true name in her blogs. Although it is true that a majority of the people who reads her blogs are her friends, who very well know her identity, and thanks to her blogs, her emotions and inner self, still she finds it cool to retain the name by which the world wide web had known her – ELLEICA. The unique pen name is simply a reverse of her equally unique first name, which a lot of people find hard to pronounce, let alone spell.

The author’s last name hails from Batangas while her middle name is well-known in Cavite. However, she has been born and raised in Bicol. In the future, she hopes to settle down in either one of the hilly locations of the country like Baguio, Rizal or Bukidnon.

Background

The author is a 2008 graduate of UP Diliman (or likes to think she is). She took up BS Biology thanks to her science upbringing in Philippine Science High School Bicol Region Campus. During her primary school years in Colegio de Sta. Isabel (now Universidad de Sta. Isabel) she dreamt of becoming a journalist or a writer of sorts. This dream had lived on even through her high school and college years when she was clearly pursuing another path. This blog is the first amongst her many efforts to realize or even keep that dream alive.

Likes and Dislikes

When it comes to music she has an inclination for classicals and alternative rock – a pretty combination she so thinks. Yet she also listens to most of the popular songs plaguing the air waves as long as it fits her taste. She also has a penchant for all Disney soundtracks and has collected them since she was a child. Don’t get her talking about books for she reads almost anything – from classical literature to nonfiction biographies. She loves a good book find in book thrift shops like Booksale where you can buy quality books from famous authors for just Php5 (roughly 5 cents). She is also not scared to read works of unknown authors and through that she gets to discover valuable gems none had even heard of yet.

She doesn’t like going to movie theaters much but that doesn’t mean she don’t like movies. In fact she watches quite a lot when she has the time to do so. Just that she prefers the comforts of her home to that of the movie theater when watching either the latest film 6 months ago or the hit film 10 years ago.

Her greatest peeve is dishonesty in almost anything. She has been raised by honest parents and integrity has been a value inculcated well into her upbringing. She hates dishonest people and dishonest means. She would rather get into trouble than be caught lying. Countless times she had indeed but lately with her incorporation into the corporate world she found out that lies and deception is a necessary tool to survive in the game. So she got out.
